Mackenzie is a swim coach that has been with F4B since 2021. He has been a competitive swimmer himself for over a decade with Yeronga Park Swimming Club, and in that time has had the opportunity to train and compete alongside Olympic, Paralympic, and Special Olympic athletes and coaches. Mackenzie has represented Queensland University of Technology at national level competition and is a long-standing senior member of YPSC’s national squad.
Outside of the water, Mackenzie continues to impart his passion for swimming as a coach. As well as supporting the F4B swimming programs, Mackenzie returns each year to his high school St Laurence’s College to coach and mentor aspiring athletes in their swim team.
Mackenzie completed his Bachelor of Mathematics and Bachelor of Information Technology double degree in 2023 with distinction from QUT. He has now embarked on a Masters of Philosophy at QUT with intention to articulate to PhD. His research involves analysing the performance metrics and results of elite Australian swimmers to inform athletes with individualised recommendations for performance improvement and reliability. Mackenzie’s project has him work in partnership with QUT, the Centre for Data Science, the CSIRO, the Queensland Academy of Sport, and Swimming Australia, and he was a recipient of the CSIRO’s Next Generation Graduate’s Program Scholarship.
